Well, I was going through my family's pictures of our vacation to Paris today, and since I've always wanted to make a picture that is black and white with one object in color, I tried it out... Click? I'm hoping that my mom--who absolutely loves to travel (and Paris, consequently)--will like it as a thank-you present for all the video games she bought me the other day.

Thankies! But looking back at it, I kinda realize that the beige color of the bridge doesn't contrast enough with the black and white background enough to fully display the effect I wanted... ah well! 'least I know what I'm doing now! ^.^

I like it! It looks really cool. I can't do that.

Quite interesting, was it time consuming?

Thankies! ^.^ Actually, it didn't take very long at all to do the final process, but I probably spent a little over an hour toying around with GIMP (and cheating slightly by looking at a Photoshop tutorial, though it really didn't help in the end) before I realized how to do it. Once I can find my digital camera, I'll do some edits of flowers I've taken poor quality pictures of. Here's one that I took outside of the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. It's a shame I couldn't go diving with the sharks because I'm too young and my certification level wasn't high enough... and that I haven't seen my dad's underwater camera in years... TT.TT

The effect looks a lot more noticeable with the bright red/pink/whatever-color-it-is of the flower than it did with the bridge. Makes the flower look more pronounced, or like a cover of a book, possibly a romance series or just a symbol of the story. A horror story where that flower is always the last thing they see before they die?
ANYWAYS...... nice job.

*Thinks about that idea* And since I'm 99.99% sure I can claim that I own the image, if I ever get the guts to write a horror story, I know what to put on the cover. XD Once I work on my symbolism, that is. My symbols/ motifs always seem to be so obvious... Anyways, thanks a lot for the feedback! I really appreciate it! ^.^
